Who runs this site
VCE Algorithmics is run by Wu Chen for students in Wu Chen's VCE Algorithmics classes. Questions and requests go to wuchen2010@gmail.com.
What the site keeps about you
- Your name and email address, entered by your teacher when you are invited.
- Which classes you are in.
- How you sign in. If you choose a password, it is stored only in scrambled (hashed) form that nobody can read back. If you sign in with Google, Google tells the site your email address and your name; the site never sees your Google password, your Gmail or anything else in your Google account.
- Work you submit on the site, and your teacher's feedback on it.
- Records that keep the site running safely: when you signed in and the network address you signed in from, and a log of changes to accounts and classes, such as an account being created.
Why
To let you sign in, show you your classes and your work, and let your teacher set work and give you feedback. Your information is not used for advertising and is never sold. The site uses no tracking or advertising cookies: its only cookies keep you signed in.
Who can see it
- You can see your own details and work.
- Your teacher can see the names and work of the students in their classes.
- The site's administrator can see accounts and classes in order to run the site.
- Other students cannot see your details or your work.
Where it is kept
These services store or handle information for the site:
- Supabase: the database and the sign-in service, in Singapore.
- Railway: runs the website, in Singapore.
- Resend: sends the invitation and password emails.
- Google: only if you choose to sign in with Google.
- GitHub: keeps an encrypted backup copy of the database, made each night. GitHub cannot read it.
This means your information is stored outside Australia, in Singapore.
How long it is kept
Your account stays open while you are a student in one of these classes. When you leave, or ask for your account to be closed, it is closed: you can no longer sign in, and you are taken off your class lists. The work you submitted and the feedback on it are kept as your teacher's teaching records. Each backup copy is deleted after 35 days.
Your choices
- You can ask what the site holds about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for your account to be closed, by emailing wuchen2010@gmail.com.
- If you are under 18, a parent or guardian can ask on your behalf.
